The Holiday season is already upon us and in the spirit of giving I wanted to share with you the groups whose efforts I am thankful for. Click the link to learn more about the organization’s efforts and how you can support them.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – An agency that is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Annually, my cousin Wendy participates in the Bismarck/Mandan Out of the Darkness Walk and raises money in memory of her mother and brother (my aunt and cousin). Any donation to support these efforts is appreciated.

American Indian College Fund – An organization “supporting Native student access to higher education.”

American Indian Graduate Center – An organization that provides “financial support for American Indians and Alaska Natives seeking higher education, and support them in attaining undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees.”

College Horizons – An organization that supports the higher education of Native American students by providing college and graduate admissions workshops to American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students.

K’É Infoshop – A “self-funded Indigenous community organizing space in the capitol of the Navajo Nation.” The K’É Infoshop engage in every day actions such as feeding the unsheltered, donation drives, hosting workshops, and providing a safe space that benefit Navajo people.

National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) – An organization that works to eliminate child abuse and neglect by strengthening American Indian families, tribes, and the laws that protect them.

National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) – An organization that supports “culturally grounded, grassroots advocacy and to provide national leadership to ending gender-based violence in Indigenous communities through the development of educational materials and programs, direct technical assistance, and the development of local and national policy that builds the capacity of Indigenous communities and strengthens the exercise of tribal sovereignty.”

Phoenix Indian Center – An organization that offers culturally based services and resources to Native American individuals and families living in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Táala Hooghan Infoshop – A youth media arts center that is “an Indigenous-established, community based and volunteer-run collective dedicated to creatively confronting and overcoming social and environmental injustices in the occupied territories of Flagstaff and the surrounding areas.” Or shop Indigenous Action Media as 100% of the proceeds support Indigenous organizing with Táala Hooghan Infoshop.
